A new season of "This Old House" begins tonight with "Rebuilding Motor City," the first of a 10-part series in Detroit, Michigan.

The terms "bankrupt" and "deserted" are out; and "revitalization" is in.

Kevin learns about the history of the city. He meets The Polk Family, who plan to renovate a formerly abandoned home themselves. Tamiko gives Kevin a full tour of the inside of the house, while Frank shows Tommy around the exterior. Richard and Scott Caron assess the plumbing and electrical needs in the basement, and then demo begins on the leaky roof.

For the latter, they'll repair the roof and apply a roofing underlayment to prevent future damage.
