QUANTEC® XL-524P admixture is a non-chloride based plasticizing set accelerator for machine produced concrete products where the process requires zero or very low slump concrete.

Product Uses

QUANTEC® XL-524P admixture may be used in all zero or low slump concrete to increase workability while retaining cohesiveness and providing more rapid hydration of the cement. In addition, the admixture gives the acceleration necessary to provide early strength while reducing or eliminating the requirement for steam curing. This benefit can also allow for replacement of Type III Cement with Type I Cement.

QUANTEC® XL-524P admixture is intended for use in concrete block mixes and may be beneficially used in concrete pavers and segmental retaining wall units. QUANTEC® XL-524P admixture is both a dispersing agent as well as an accelerating admixture. By dispersing the cement and aggregate fines, it improves the workability of the mix. Dispersion of the cement results in more complete hydration. This, coupled with the acceleration produced by QUANTEC® XL-524P admixture, provide greater early strength for any given cement content.

The increased workability provided by the admixture allows for better compaction with less cracking and crazing, sharper corners and edges, resulting in fewer culls. Production can be increased, absorption reduced and appearance and texture greatly improved.

Application Information

Addition Rates

QUANTEC® XL-524P admixture is used at a rate of 6-10 oz/cwt (390-650 mL/100 kg) of cementitious materials, including pozzolans. The addition rate is dependent upon the specific set of materials and the desired end properties.


QUANTEC® XL-524P admixture is available in drums and returnable totes.

Health & Safety

All precautions defined on the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) for QUANTEC® XL-524P admixture must be followed.


QUANTEC® XL-524P admixture will begin to freeze at approximately 32°F (0°C), but will return to full strength after thawing and thorough mechanical agitation.
