Overview

What is MONOKOTE®?

MONOKOTE®, fireproofing backed by a global reputation, is a life-safety product designed to reduce the rate of temperature rise in steel or concrete in the event of a fire. This prolongs the structural integrity of the elements, which allows more people to leave a building in an emergency situation and gives first responders time to save the building.

Contractor-friendly in a number of applications

MONOKOTE® has been specifically designed to be contractor-friendly. The materials are typically spray-applied and can be pumped easily into the upper floors of tall buildings. In addition to being less abrasive and less challenging to pump, users can also elect to inject MONOKOTE® to impact set time and density of the material.

Designed to resist environmental extremes

Within the MONOKOTE® brand there is a family of products, and each product is designed to meet varying fireproofing and physical property requirements. MONOKOTE® products can be used on steel, concrete and even urethane surfaces. There are products for interior applications as well as ones for exterior applications that are designed to withstand weather and industrial environments.

Tunnels, subways and petrochemical refineries all have unique environmental conditions and unique risks due to fire — and they all have a MONOKOTE® product designed specifically for those needs. Lastly, building codes specify different bond strengths and densities for fireproofing material based on building height. For each set of requirements, MONOKOTE® provides a solution such as MONOKOTE® MK-1000, a product with a 1000 PSF bond strength designed for buildings over 420 feet tall.
