Product Description
OPTEC® EC-315 is a liquid integral efflorescence controlling admixture for use in concrete masonry units, where zero or low slump concrete is required. OPTEC® EC-315 restricts the migration of water while it reduces efflorescence, maintains color intensity, and provides dirt and stain resistance. In addition OPTEC® EC-315 increases density, producing a unit with higher compressive strengths, lower absorption, and better overall appearance.
Product Advantages
- Reduced efflorescence
- Reduced absorption
- Resists dirt and stains
- Improved color intensity
Product Function
OPTEC® EC-315 chemically reacts with cement, filling the pores of the concrete with water insoluble hydrophobic products. This produces a water-repelling effect by greatly reducing absorption of the capillary pores.
Since OPTEC® EC-315 is throughout the masonry unit, the migration of water to the surface from within is restricted. This aids in strength development and reduces the potential for efflorescence. OPTEC® EC-315 is non-chloride and non-corrosive.
Application Information
Addition Rates:
The recommended addition rate of OPTEC® EC-315 is 260-650 mL /100 kg (4-10 fl oz/100 lbs) of cementitious material. However, prior testing is needed to establish the most effective dosage rate.
Mixing Procedure:
The recommended point of admixture introduction will vary with equipment and mixing procedure; however, OPTEC® EC-315 should not be dispensed onto dry cementitious materials. Your GCP representative will assist in determining the optimum point of admixture addition. The minimum temperature for application is 1°C (34 °F).
Dispensing Equipment
A complete line of admixture dispensing equipment is available.
Packaging
OPTEC® EC-315 is available in drums, returnable totes and in bulk. Product weight is 1.02 kg/L (8.5 lbs/gal).
Health & Safety
All precautions defined on the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) for OPTEC® EC-315 admixture must be followed.
Storage
Protect OPTEC® EC-315 from direct sunlight and freezing. OPTEC® EC-315 has a shelf life of 1 year.
